Slightly autumnal, wonderfully moist and aromatic. It\u2019s naturally sweetened (with honey or golden syrup), contains no added fat (all comes from tahini), and is egg-free. Simple, wholesome, and absolutely delicious.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients for tahini cake with pear and almonds:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">240 g tahini*<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">260 g golden syrup or honey<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">220 g plain flour<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">1 teaspoon cinnamon<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">100 g flaked almonds<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">200 g pears, peeled and diced (2 cm pieces)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">250 ml apple juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Additionally:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>flaked almonds for topping<\/li>\n<li>icing sugar for dusting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All ingredients should be at room temperature.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mix the tahini with the golden syrup or honey. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, bicarbonate of soda, and cinnamon. Sift into a large mixing bowl. Add the tahini mixture, almonds, apple juice, and pears. Mix with a whisk or fork until just combined.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Line a 20\u201321 cm cake tin with baking paper. Pour in the batter and optionally sprinkle with extra flaked almonds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bake at 160\u00b0C for about 1 hour (or longer, up to 1.5 hours), until a skewer inserted comes out clean. Remove from the oven and cool completely.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dust with icing sugar before serving.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>*Tahini (optional homemade version):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>4 cups sesame seeds<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 cup vegetable oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Toast the sesame seeds at 200\u00b0C for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally &#8211; lightly golden but not browned.
