A while ago, there was a real boom on food blogs featuring recipes with chia. It\u2019s hardly surprising \u2013 they were quickly labelled a \u201csuperfood\u201d, with their nutritional benefits widely praised: rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, antioxidants\u2026 and the list goes on. Chia seeds are incredibly easy to use. There\u2019s no need to cook them (so they retain their nutrients) or grind them \u2013 simply add them to muesli, yoghurt, salads and more. They behave similarly to linseeds, meaning they quickly absorb liquid and form a gel-like texture. On their own, chia seeds have very little flavour, taking on the taste of whatever they\u2019re added to.<\/em> <em>See how easily you can turn them into a delicious chocolate pudding :).<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Serves 2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients \u00a0for chocolate chia pudding:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">1 cup milk (dairy, almond, hazelnut, rice, coconut \u2013 or coconut mixed half-and-half with water or regular milk)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">3 tablespoons chia seeds<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">2 &#8211; 3 tablespoons cocoa powder, to taste<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">2 &#8211; 4 tablespoons maple syrup, agave syrup, golden syrup or honey<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">to serve: e.g. cherries in syrup<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add the chia seeds and cocoa powder to the milk and stir well. Leave to stand for 15\u201320 minutes. You\u2019ll notice the mixture beginning to thicken as the seeds absorb the liquid.
