Ingredients for the sticky gingerbread:<\/u><\/p>\n

• 150 g butter<\/li>\n
• 200 g golden syrup or honey<\/li>\n
• 200 g black treacle or molasses<\/li>\n
• 90 g dark muscovado sugar<\/li>\n
• 2 tsp finely grated fresh ginger<\/li>\n
• 1 tsp\u00a0ground ginger<\/li>\n
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon<\/li>\n
• 1\/4 tsp\u00a0ground cloves<\/li>\n
• 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda + 2 Tbsp warm water<\/li>\n
• 250 ml milk<\/li>\n
• 2 large eggs<\/li>\n
• 300 g plain\u00a0flour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  All ingredients (except the water) should be at room temperature.<\/p>\n

  Place the butter, golden syrup, molasses, muscovado sugar and spices in a saucepan. Heat over low heat, stirring, until the sugar has completely dissolved. Leave to cool slightly, but keep the mixture warm. Add the milk, eggs and the bicarbonate of soda dissolved in water, then mix until combined. Sift the plain flour directly into the mixture and whisk gently until just combined \u2014 do not overmix.<\/p>\n

  Line a 20 \u00d7 30 cm baking tin with baking paper. Pour the batter into the prepared tin.<\/p>\n

  Bake at 170\u00b0C for about 45 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Remove from the oven, leave to cool, then cut into squares.<\/p>\n
