The best waffles – crisp on the outside and light as a feather :). Thanks to the egg whites, whipped until stiff and gently folded into the batter, these waffles rise beautifully and are exceptionally fluffy. Delicious with whipped cream and fresh fruit, and perfect for dessert!
Ingredients for light and crispy waffles:
- 300 g plain flour
- 500 ml milk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- a pinch of salt
- 1–2 tbsp caster sugar
- 80 ml sunflower oil
- 2 large eggs, separated
Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Place the flour, milk, baking powder, salt, sugar, oil and egg yolks in a large bowl and mix until smooth, using a hand blender or whisk. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter, taking care not to deflate them.
Pour a portion of the batter into the preheated waffle maker and cook for about 2–3 minutes, until golden and crisp. Transfer the cooked waffles to a wire rack to cool.
Serve with whipped cream or your favourite toppings.
Enjoy!
