Strawberry sauce

A delicious strawberry sauce for ice cream, waffles, pancakes… and many other treats :). During strawberry season, it’s worth keeping a jar ready in the fridge to serve at any moment. It’s quick to make, absolutely delicious, and perfectly enhances homemade desserts.

Ingredients for strawberry sauce:

  • 500 g strawberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1/5 cup sugar (or less)
  • freshly squeezed juice from half a lemon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla paste

Cut the strawberries into smaller pieces. Place them in a saucepan together with the sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil, then simmer uncovered over very low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly. You can blend half of the sauce for a smoother consistency, but I personally love the strawberry pieces and never do that ;). Set aside and let cool.

Store the strawberry sauce in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Enjoy!
