Orange sorbet – refreshing, juicy, simple and made with just 3 ingredients. The perfect way to cool down on a hot day. It’s also a light dessert, completely fat-free. The amount of sugar will depend on how sweet your oranges are, so it’s best to start with a smaller quantity and adjust to taste. You can serve it in bowls, in waffle cones (as pictured) or freeze it into ice lollies.
Ingredients for the orange sorbet:
- 500 ml freshly squeezed orange juice (about 6 oranges)
- 80 g sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange liqueur
Squeeze the oranges and pour the juice into a saucepan. Add the sugar and orange liqueur, stirring to combine. Bring to the boil just until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat, allow to cool, then transfer to a container. Cover with cling film and chill in the fridge until thoroughly cold – preferably overnight.
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Transfer to a container, cover and freeze for a few hours until firm.
Without an Ice Cream Maker:
Chill the mixture as above, then whisk thoroughly and pour into a freezer-safe container. Freeze, blending every 30 minutes for the first 3 hours to prevent ice crystals forming and to keep the sorbet light and fluffy. Freeze until fully set.
Enjoy!
